Kids Camps & Private Lessons

Kids and Teens Group Programs

half day week long kids camp located at Smith Creek Trails

This camp is for ages 7-12

July 29-August 2

Booking Explanation When you book through the booking Jane app, you'll be directed to the first date of the camp and 4 week lessons. You'll then fill out the rider waiver form and complete the payment. I will be notified and will manually book the remaining lessons under your account before your first class.

Half Day Camp

Ages 7-9/10-12
July 29-Aug 2 

​This program is best suited for kids who enjoy being outside and comfortable riding their mountain bike on dirt trails.

 

We focus on building skills, confidence, and friendships!

 

Our camp will be focused on mountain biking skills and activities.

 

We will be pedalling both up and down hills and riding green trails and some blue trails.

​

AGES 7-10 MORNINGS 

  • ​For $370, your kid will enjoy five half days out in nature

  • Monday through Friday 

  • Duration 8:30am to 12:00pm

  • Location: Smith Creek Trails

  • Specific for Beginner, Beginner Plus, and Intermediate Riders

  • Up to 6 kids

AGES 10-12 AFTERNOONS

  • ​For $370, your kid will enjoy five half days out in nature

  • Monday through Friday 

  • Duration 1:00pm-4:30pm

  • Location: Smith Creek Trails

  • Specific for Beginner, Beginner Plus, and Intermediate Riders

  • Up to 6 kids

What your kids will learn:

  • Bike handling skills

  • Bike and trail safety

  • How/when/why:

  • Braking Control 

  • Cornering

  • Gearing

  • Climb and Descend with Efficiency and Smoothness 

  • Terrain Awareness

  • Overcoming Obstacles 

What to Bring:

  • Sunscreen, Hat and Sunglasses 

  • Well-fitted and quality helmet

  • Kids will carry their own water, snacks, and spare clothes (weather dependent). Extra water and snacks will be at the trail head lot.

Requirements:

  • Gloves, knee and elbow pads are mandatory

  • Mountain bikes are in good working condition (gears are working properly and the bike is fitted properly

  • The bike ideally needs to have disc brakes, quality, gearing and mountain bike tires with tread.

  • If your child is unable to attend a day or needs to be picked up early, please contact Vanessa in advance on her cell at 778-821-2453

  • We encourage you to check your child for ticks at the end of the day. Learn about it here

 

Please note that a minimum number of participants is required for our kids mountain bike program to proceed. If the minimum enrolment is not met, BOLD reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the program. In the event of cancellation, you will be notified 72 hours in advance of the lesson start date and provided with options for alternative sessions or a full refund. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to providing a fun and enriching experience for your child!

This is for ages 7-17. This experience will teach your kids all the essential skills to ride safe while progressing in their passion of mountain biking. Your child will have a personalized lesson plan designed for their specific goals.

What Defines a Beginner and Beginner Plus Rider? 

What Defines an Intermediate and Intermediate Plus Rider?

Beginner: You’re new to cycling! You can ride the bike on very basic gravel roads or wide trails. You can operate the bike and want to learn more foundations of cycling to be a confident rider.

Beginner PLUS: You maintain a comfortable and sturdy stance on descents, climbs, and cornering. You do not have the confidence to navigate roots, rocks, and tight turns. You want to learn how to flow through trails will ease and confidence

What Defines an Advanced and Advanced Plus Rider?

Advanced: You are comfortable and confident at high speeds in technical terrain. Your cornering skills are excellent, and you can easily ride the apex of berms. You are skilled and confident at navigating a variety of technical features such as roots, rocks, mud, sand, and creek crossings. You are very skilled at shifting your weight to navigate technical climbs, descents and all trail features. You can bunny hop over obstacles and are confident to handle smaller jumps and drops.

Advanced PLUS: You are very advanced in all areas of mountain biking. You have significant and strong skills in the areas of shifting, braking, speed control, cornering, climbing and descending. You can comfortably navigate all terrain at high speeds. You’re not afraid of jumps and drops and can easily manage transitions.

Intermediate: You are continuously learning the art of shifting, but understand easy and hard shifting through the gears. You have the skills to brake appropriately on descents and you are confident to ride through a variety of technical features (roots, rocks, tight turns) although you are most comfortable at a slow and controlled pace. You have a desire to build on your current skill set.

Intermediate PLUS: You have a strong understanding and practice with the skills of braking, shifting, cornering and descending. You are able to navigate variable terrain at a good pace. You are confident and comfortable riding singletrack trails and can easily navigate roots, rocks, mud, sand and creek crossings. You are capable of a front wheel and rear wheel lift and can put the two together to navigate over obstacles. You are fairly confident on steep climbs and descents, but you may walk sections on trails that are rated Black or Double Black.
