This past weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to meet Blair Ireland, Mayor of Lake Country, as he helped cut the ribbon for the Lake Country Bike Park Open! I’m still buzzing from the energy of the event. As a rider and coach passionate about growing the sport, it was inspiring to see so many new and experienced mountain bikers come together to ride, connect, and support each other in such a welcoming environment.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Country, British Columbia, the event showcased just how much this growing community has to offer for riders of all levels. From smooth flow trails to skill building on wooden skinnies, to progressive jump and drop lines features, Lake Country Bike Park is quickly becoming one of the best bike parks in BC and a standout stop for riders exploring the Okanagan mountain bike scene.
One of the highlights of the day for me was meeting so many new riders like professional freeriders, Brett Rheeder and Brayden Barrett-Hay. I had the privilege of encouraging a few to drop into the progression lines, and the smiles and high-fives that followed reminded me exactly why I love this sport. Riding in a controlled and supportive environment gave me and them the confidence to push their limits and discover what we are all capable of!
Beyond the riding, what stood out most was the sense of community. Whether it was parents cheering on their kids, seasoned riders giving tips, or volunteers making sure everything ran smoothly, the day was a powerful reminder of how mountain biking brings people together. This is the heart of what makes events like the Lake Country Bike Park Open so special and why I believe it belongs on platforms like Singletracks Magazine, where people search for top mountain bike events in British Columbia and hidden gems worth traveling for.
If you're planning a trip to the Okanagan Valley, or you're a local looking to explore more trails, I can’t recommend the Lake Country Bike Park enough. It’s a vibrant hub for riders, families, and adventure seekers—and a growing part of BC’s mountain biking tourism appeal. Whether you’re reading this from Kelowna, Kamloops, or even across the world, put Lake Country Bike Park on your list.
I’m already looking forward to the next time we gather on these trails.
Until then, keep exploring, keep encouraging one another, and keep riding!
